One child size fits a head circumference of 48-52 cm (about 19-20½ inches). Measure around the head before choosing this project.

Use about ½ yard of quilting cotton, 44-45 inches wide, plus two pieces of ⅜-inch elastic. The PDF includes the cutting measurements.

You’ll also need matching thread, a sewing machine, scissors, a turning tool, and an iron.

1. Print on US Letter paper at 100% / Actual Size. Turn off Fit to Page and Shrink.
2. Check the 2-inch and 1-inch test squares with a ruler before cutting.
3. Follow the assembly map to join the bow-tail pages, then cut the pattern pieces.

Is this a beginner project?

Yes. The tutorial guides you through sewing the tails, making the elastic casing, and joining everything together with photographs.

Is the size adjustable?

The elastic back and tied bow allow some adjustment within the child-size fit. Baste the elastic first and check the fit before securing it permanently.

Do I need to add seam allowances?

No. They are included in the pattern. Follow the seam allowance shown in the instructions.
